Principal's Welcome
Welcome to our school family.
Our school stands proudly on Greater Palm Island which is home to the Traditional Owners, the Manbarra people – (Mun-burra) and the First Nations collective of the Bwgcolman people and their descendants that were sent to the Palm Island mission from a number of communities around Queensland. Manbarra and Bwgcolman Country on which we stand has been a place of teaching, learning, storytelling, and community for tens of thousands of years. We acknowledge the Elders past and present who paved the way, and we honour the shared responsibility we have today in guiding the next generation - our future leaders.
From Prep through to Year 6, our mission is to create a safe, culturally rich environment where every child feels grounded in who they are. We believe that strong identity fuels strong learning and belonging. When our students are proud of their culture, their history, and their community, there is no limit to what they can achieve in the classroom and beyond. Through a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, we want to empower every student from Prep - Year 6 to reach their full academic and personal potential.
Education is a shared journey. Our school is a place where culture and the Australian Curriculum walk hand in hand, and where parents, Elders, and community members are always welcome to pull up a chair, share a story, and help shape our children's futures.
We look forward to walking alongside you as we learn, grow, and celebrate every achievement together.
'To truth by love'
Kind regards,
Janelle Saunders
